Speakers: Kenji Asakura, MD & Letizia Alto, MD About the speakers: Kenji Asakura, MD: Kenji is a board certified internal medicine physician. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania and medical school at Johns Hopkins. After medical school, his career path veered off the traditional path as he (in order): started a nutraceutical company, completed an internship at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle, worked as a management consultant for McKinsey & Company, returned to UW to repeat his internship (yes, two internships) and completed a full residency. After residency, he went to work as a hospitalist at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle where he has worked since 2008. During his time at Swedish, he started two companies and successfully exited both of them. He currently works on various passion projects including real estate investing, becoming a home sushi chef, hiking and raising four children. Letizia Alto, MD: Leti is a board certified family medicine physician. She did her undergraduate degree at Hamilton College and completed a graduate degree in anthropology at George Washington University. After finishing her medical school at University of Vermont, Leti went to residency at Swedish Family Medicine Residency, followed by a hospitalist fellowship. She has been a hospitalist since 2011, working at Good Samaritan Hospital, Queen’s Medical Center, and Swedish Medical Center. She also started a healthcare documentation company with Kenji and served as Chief Medical Officer from 2015-2016. She currently splits time between running Semi-Retired MD, real estate investing, moonlighting in the hospital, traveling and raising four children.
