Dr Bhukebag is a Mumbai-based Senior Consultant Robotic, Laparoscopic, Bariatric and Hernia Surgeon with over 20 years of experience in advanced gastrointestinal and minimally invasive surgery. Internationally trained in India, Taiwan and Belgium, he is actively involved in surgical education, clinical research, academic writing and mentorship. Alongside his clinical and academic work, he has a strong interest in the intersection of surgery and technology, particularly robotic surgery, artificial intelligence and digital health, and in how these technologies can improve surgical practice, education, research and patient care.
In his new role, Dr. Bhukebag will help shape SurgeOn’s academic programming for surgeons in India, connecting local training needs with the platform’s global education network — including Global Rounds, masterclass sessions, and on-demand educational content.
Dr Bhukebag said, “I am honoured to take on this role with SurgeOn. I hope to help connect surgeons in India with SurgeOn’s global network and create more opportunities to learn, share ideas, collaborate, and contribute to surgical education internationally.”
“Dr. Bhukebag brings exactly the blend of clinical depth and educational passion we look for in our regional academic leaders,” said Dr. Chris DuCoin, Chief Academic Officer of Surgery Unified. “His experience training surgeons across minimally invasive and bariatric techniques will help us build academic programming that speaks directly to the needs of the surgical community in India.”
“Growing our education leadership in India is a natural next step for SurgeOn,” said Dr. Mark Soliman, CEO of Surgery Unified. “As our community continues to expand globally, having trusted, experienced voices like Dr. Bhukebag guiding academic strategy on the ground ensures that growth is matched with real educational value for surgeons in the region.”
The appointment builds on SurgeOn’s broader strategy of assembling subspecialty and regional academic leadership to guide its education offering as the platform scales internationally.
